Universal bookings

For whatever else you do

Every business has the thing that doesn't fit the list. Hydrotherapy, physio, a behaviour consult, nail clipping, a photo session, a puppy party. Universal bookings are a spare, slot-based booking type you name and shape yourself.

Illustration of a universal service day

A grooming-shaped booking, pointed anywhere

Universal started life as a copy of the grooming booking type, which is why it works the way it does: appointments in time slots, on a day, with a duration and a price. That shape turns out to fit almost anything you sell by the appointment.

So rather than wait for us to build a booking type for every service in the industry, you get one you can point at whatever you need — named your way, priced your way, on your own calendar.

What people actually use it for

A few we've seen. The point is that it's yours to decide.

Hydrotherapy

Pool or treadmill sessions in fixed slots, often as a course of appointments.

Physio & rehab

Appointment-based treatment with its own practitioner and duration.

Behaviour consults

Longer one-off sessions that aren't quite training and aren't quite anything else.

Nail clips & quick services

Ten-minute jobs you don't want cluttering the grooming diary.

Photography

Studio or session bookings, sold by the slot.

Puppy parties

Social sessions with several pets kept on one booking.

Assessments & meet-and-greets

The visit before the first proper booking.

Whatever you sell

If it happens at a time, for a length, at a price, it fits.

What comes with it

Everything a grooming booking has, without being about grooming.

Time slots

Publish bookable slots at whatever length you work in, and let customers pick one that's genuinely free.

Several pets, one booking

Keep all the pets on a single booking rather than splitting them — the difference between a puppy party and four separate appointments.

Flat rate or your own rates

Set one price for everything, or build a proper rate table. Charge by whichever basis suits the service.

Its own calendar

Choose which calendar these bookings land on, so a hydrotherapy pool doesn't crowd out the grooming table.

Online booking

Publish it to your portal with its own description. Auto-confirm bookings, or hold them pending your approval.

Neutering rules

Stop un-neutered dogs over an age you set from booking online, applied to males, females or both, with your own message explaining why.

Staff assigned

Put the practitioner on the booking and keep individual diaries straight.

Cancellation fees

Charge for late cancellations as a fixed fee or a percentage, applied automatically inside your notice window.

Named by you

The service name appears everywhere the customer sees it — the portal, confirmations, reminders and invoices.

Frequently asked questions

What is a universal booking?

It's a general-purpose, slot-based booking type you name and configure yourself, for services that don't fit the standard types. It began as a copy of the grooming booking type, so it works in appointments and time slots.

What can I use it for?

Anything sold by the appointment — hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, behaviour consultations, nail clipping, photography sessions, puppy parties, assessments. If it happens at a set time for a set length at a set price, it fits.

Can I rename it so customers see my service name?

Yes. The name you give it appears everywhere the customer sees it, including your online booking page, confirmations, reminders and invoices.

Can I put several pets on one universal booking?

Yes, that's a setting. By default each pet gets its own booking, but you can keep them all on one — which is what you want for something like a puppy party.

Can customers book it online?

Yes, with its own description and available slots. Bookings can be confirmed automatically or held as pending until you approve them.

Can I stop un-neutered dogs from booking?

Yes. You can prevent un-neutered or unspayed dogs over an age you specify from booking online, applied to males, females or both, with your own message shown to explain why.
