For kennels and daycares currently on Gingr

Gingr charges you $30 a month more for not using their payments.

Look at their own pricing page. The Stay plan is $179 a month with Integrated Payments and $209 without — a $360-a-year penalty for processing your cards somewhere else. Then ask them what those payments actually cost, and you’ll be told the rates are “tailored based on business volume”.

Ours is $49.99 a month, and we publish the payment rate before you switch it on.

Read their pricing page carefully

Everything below is published on gingrapp.com. Go and check it — it takes ten seconds and we’d rather you did.

Stay plan, with their payments

$179/mo

Stay plan, without their payments

$209/mo

That’s a $360-a-year charge for using your own payment processor

Their pricing page carries the note “Pricing shown with active Integrated Payments”. So the headline figure assumes you’ve handed them your card processing. Decline, and it costs you thirty dollars a month.

And here’s the part worth sitting with: they don’t publish what that processing costs. Their own FAQ says only that they offer “tailored rates based on business volume” and invites you to get in touch. You’re being charged for opting out of something whose price you can’t see.

We publish one all-in rate for your country and show it to you during setup, before you turn payments on and before you’ve committed to anything. If you’d rather not use it, that’s fine and it doesn’t change your subscription by a penny.

And notice what those plan names mean

Spa is for groomers and trainers. Play is for daycare. Stay is for boarding. The plans are the services. So a business that boards, does daycare through the week and grooms on a Thursday isn’t choosing between them — it’s buying the top one.

Every KennelBooker plan includes boarding, cattery, daycare, grooming, training, board & train, dog walking, homestay and point of sale. Our plans are sized by how many pets you can take at once, not by which parts of your business you’re permitted to run. Add grooming next spring and it costs you nothing.

Three of the big names, one owner

Worth knowing, because it shapes what happens next.

September 2017

Togetherwork acquires Gingr

Gingr becomes part of a vertical software group backed by Aquiline Capital Partners.

March 2020

Revelation Pets joins the same group

A second independent competitor comes under the same ownership.

4 November 2024

PetExec is acquired

PetExec’s site now carries the banner “PetExec is now part of the Gingr family”, and enquiries about it are handled at info.gingrapp.com. Three comapnies in the category, one owner.

Why ownership is worth a thought

A roll-up buys the competitors and reduces the choice between them. That isn’t an accusation — it’s the stated model, and it’s a perfectly legitimate way to build a business. But it does mean the people setting your prices answer to a fund, and it works precisely because switching software is painful.

We’re independent and owner-run. There’s nobody above us who needs a bigger number next quarter. And because we know switching is the real barrier, we do the move for you.

We’ll move you. You don’t touch anything.

Free, whichever plan you end up on.

1

Send us your export

Pull your customers, pets and bookings out of Gingr and email us the files. That’s your part done.

2

We build it out

We will take your data and import it into your KennelBooker account, you just need to set your rates and you are good to go.

3

You check it over

Test out the system for the next two weeks, while you still have Gingr running. Nothing goes live until you say so.

4

You switch when ready

Point your booking link at the new portal. Your customers keep their history and set a password the first time they book.

Our side of the deal

Live and taking bookings within 3 days, or you don’t pay us.

Send us a clean export and we’ll have you ready to take real bookings inside of 3 days. If we don’t, your first three months are free. We’re not asking you to take a risk to find out whether this is better — we’ll take it.

You’re not trading down to save money

Thousands of kennels, catteries, groomers and daycares across 40 countries run their whole business on this.

Every service, one plan

Boarding, cattery, board & train, daycare, grooming, walking, training, homestay and point of sale.

24/7 online booking

Live availability, deposits taken at the point of booking, confirmations sent automatically.

Vaccination enforcement

Expired vaccinations block the booking before it reaches your diary, not at the front door on a Saturday.

Your pricing, however odd

Peak dates, part days, multi-pet rates, extra services, and custom rules built to match how you actually charge.

Your own Stripe account

Money goes from your customer to you. We never hold it, and we publish the rate before you switch it on.

iOS and Android apps

Check-ins, check-outs and the day’s run sheet from your phone, in the yard, with wet hands.

Xero and QuickBooks

Invoices and payments sync straight through to your accounts.

Multi-location

Run several sites with shared customers and separate diaries, capacity and reporting.

A person who answers

Fin runs our fist line support, it is AI but (he, they) answer over 80% of the routine questions in seconds, for anything it cannot help with the request goes straight to the people who wrote the code. There is no tier one, and no ticket that goes quiet for weeks on end.

The questions people actually ask before switching

What are the payment fees?

We publish one all-in rate for your country — for example 2.4% + 50¢ per transaction — and you see the exact figure during setup, before you turn payments on. That number is the whole cost. No monthly minimums and no payment contacts. And if you’d rather not use it at all, your subscription doesn’t change.

Will my customers have to start again?

No. Their records, their pets and their history come across with the migration. They set a password the first time they book on your new portal, prompted by an email you approve before it goes out.

How long does switching actually take?

Most businesses are ready to take real bookings within a week of sending us their export. You keep Gingr running alongside until you’re satisfied — nothing goes live until you say so.

What if my pricing is complicated?

That’s usually the reason people think they can’t move, and it’s usually wrong. Peak season rates, part-day charges, multi-pet discounts, breed or size bands, extra services — we build custom pricing rules into the system as part of the setup. Show us the strangest thing you charge for.

Do I have to pay separately for daycare and grooming?

No. Every service is in every plan. Plans are sized by how many pets you can take at once, not by which services you’re permitted to sell. Adding grooming next spring costs you nothing extra.

Go and look at your last invoice

Add up the plan, the add-ons and anything charged on your card takings. Then compare it with $49.99 a month and a published rate. If ours is smaller, we’ll move you across for nothing.
