There is no single best kennel management software, and anyone who says otherwise is selling something. (We are too, so we'll be upfront about that.) What suits a 12-run boarding kennel in Devon is different from what suits a 60-dog daycare in Texas. What we can do is lay out the main options, what they cost, who they're built for and what to check before you sign up.
We've used each vendor's own pricing page where one exists, and Capterra for review scores, all checked in October 2026. Prices change, so check anything that matters to your decision directly with the vendor.

What to look for, whichever you choose
Before the individual systems, here's the checklist we'd use. Our longer kennel software buyer's guide goes into each point.
- Every service you sell on one calendar, sharing customer records and vaccination dates. Check how the vendor charges for each service.
- Online booking with deposits, so a client booking at 11pm is confirmed and paid without you.
- Vaccination checks at booking and again at check-in, with owners uploading certificates themselves.
- Peak and holiday pricing applied automatically to the right nights.
- A daily overview of arrivals, departures, feeding and medication that staff will actually use.
- The full price: subscription plus SMS, payments, extra locations, setup and migration.
The options in more detail
KennelBooker
This is our product, so read this section with that in mind. KennelBooker covers boarding, cattery, daycare, grooming, training, board and train, dog walking, homestay and point of sale in every plan. Plans are sized by capacity: $49.99 a month for up to 10 rooms and 10 daycare spaces, rising to $65.99, $94.99 and $122.99 for 30, 60 and 100 rooms, with 12% off for annual billing. There's no contract, no setup fee and data migration is free.
Good fit if you run more than one service, you're in the UK or Ireland and need records for Animal Activities Licensing inspections, or you want to see the full price up front. It's run by an independent, owner-run company. If grooming is your whole business and you'll never board or run daycare, a grooming-first tool may feel more tailored.
Gingr
Gingr is one of the best-known systems in the US daycare and boarding market. Plans are named by service: Spa ($109) for grooming and training, Play ($169) for daycare and Stay ($179 with Gingr's payments, $209 without) for boarding, with cheaper annual rates and custom Enterprise pricing. The mobile app, customer portal, retail and reporting are in every plan. Employee scheduling, 2-way SMS and a messaging bundle are add-ons.
Capterra reviewers like the interface and customisation; the complaints that come up are glitches and inconsistent support. Gingr is owned by Togetherwork, which also owns Revelation Pets and PetExec. We break down the costs in how much Gingr costs.
Kennel Connection
Kennel Connection has been around a long time and still offers desktop and hybrid versions alongside its cloud product. KC Cloud is $149 a month with unlimited modules, onboarding, a pet-parent portal and online booking; 2-way SMS is $50 a month extra. There's a grooming-only plan at $69 and desktop from $89. Reviewers mention a learning curve for admins and some bugs.
Revelation Pets
Revelation Pets is one of the few systems that publishes prices in pounds: Silver at £50 a month covers boarding and appointments, and Gold at £62 adds daycare. Online booking, integrated payments, reminders and vaccine management are on both, data upload is free and there's a free trial without a card. Capterra reviewers score it highly. Some mention limited mobile functionality and customisation. It's part of Togetherwork, like Gingr.
DaySmart Pet
DaySmart Pet (formerly 123Pet) is grooming-led. Plans run from $29 to $199 a month depending on how many users you need, slightly cheaper if you use DaySmart's payments, with extra users at $9 each. Daycare and boarding calendars are $25 a month each on top, so a grooming-and-boarding business should add those to the price. Reviewers raise cost and add-on fees.
MoeGo
MoeGo started in grooming and is popular with mobile groomers; its grooming plans are published, from $49 a month for a single van. Boarding and daycare plans exist but are priced through a demo. Strong reviews overall, with some comments on support speed and SMS costs.
Goose
Goose is a newer US system aimed at multi-service facilities, with unlimited users, pets and reservations and month-to-month terms. It doesn't publish prices, so you'll need a demo for a quote. It has fewer reviews than the others so far.
PetExec
PetExec was acquired by Togetherwork in November 2024 and enquiries about it are now routed to Gingr. It has a large base of existing reviews, but its pricing is no longer published on its site. If you're an existing PetExec customer, ask what the plan is for your account. If you're new, you'll most likely be talking to Gingr.
UK and Irish kennels: extra things to check
Most kennel software is built for the US. If you're in the UK or Ireland, check:
- whether you can pay in pounds or euros, and how VAT is shown
- that card payments work with UK and Irish banks
- that the system keeps the records your council inspector asks for under the Animal Activities Licensing regulations (our guide to dog boarding licences lists them)
- where your data is stored and how GDPR requests are handled
How to choose in a fortnight
- Write down every service you sell now and expect to sell in two years.
- Get a full monthly price from two or three vendors with every add-on you'd use.
- Start free trials where they exist and enter a real week of bookings, including a peak weekend.
- Ask each vendor whether they'll migrate your data, and what it costs.
- Let the person who does your morning check-ins choose between the last two.
If KennelBooker is on your shortlist, the trial is 14 days with no card, and we'll import your customers and pets during it. You can also compare us directly on our pages for Gingr, Kennel Connection, Revelation Pets and PetExec.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best software for managing kennels?
There isn't one best system for every kennel. A boarding-only kennel, a daycare with a grooming room and a multi-site pet resort need different things. Shortlist two or three systems that cover all the services you sell, check the full monthly price with add-ons, and run a free trial with your own bookings before you decide.
What is the best booking system for dog boarding?
For boarding, the system needs live availability by run or room, online booking with deposits, vaccination checks at booking and check-in, peak and holiday pricing, and a daily overview of arrivals, departures and medication. Most of the systems in this article do the basics; the differences are price, how services are bundled and how easy the system is to use day to day.
What is the best software for managing pet care businesses with several services?
Look for software that puts every service on one calendar and one customer record, and check how it charges for services. Some vendors price by service type or sell daycare and boarding calendars as add-ons, while KennelBooker includes every service in every plan.
Is there kennel software made for the UK?
Most kennel software is American, so check for UK specifics: pricing in pounds, VAT handling, UK payment processing, GDPR and records that support Animal Activities Licensing inspections. KennelBooker is run from Ireland and supports AAL 2018 record-keeping; Revelation Pets also publishes pricing in pounds.
