Kennel Connection, PetExec, Revelation Pets, DoggieDashboard and KennelSuite: what reviewers say

When kennel owners compare software, the same few names keep coming up in Google's "people also ask" questions: is Kennel Connection any good, what happened to PetExec, what do people say about DoggieDashboard. This piece pulls together what each vendor publishes and what reviewers say, so you have the basics in one place.

We make KennelBooker, which competes with all of these. We've used each vendor's own website for prices and features and Capterra for review scores, all checked on 7 October 2026. Vendors change their prices and products, so check anything important with them directly.

Kennel Connection

Kennel Connection is one of the longest-running names in US kennel software, and it still sells desktop and hybrid versions as well as its cloud product. That's unusual and useful if your internet connection is unreliable.

KC Cloud is $149 a month and includes unlimited modules (boarding, daycare, grooming, training and retail), onboarding, a pet-parent portal and online booking. There's a grooming-only plan at $69, a hybrid plan at $149 and desktop from $89. Two-way SMS, which covers texting, reminders, text-to-pay and review requests, is $50 a month on top. Card payments run through Kennel Connection's integrated processing.

On Capterra it scores 4.4 from 80 reviews. The complaints that recur are bugs and crashes, a learning curve for whoever sets it up, and a complicated pricing set-up.

If you're weighing up a move, our Kennel Connection alternative page compares the two side by side.

PetExec

PetExec built a large user base among US daycares and boarding facilities, and it still has one of the biggest review counts in the category: 4.6 from 662 reviews on Capterra. Criticisms in recent reviews include admin complexity, few integrations and a weaker mobile experience.

The bigger news is ownership. Togetherwork, which owns Gingr, acquired PetExec in November 2024. PetExec's pricing pages are no longer live, and Gingr now handles PetExec enquiries. If you're on PetExec today, it's sensible to ask what the long-term plan is for your account and whether a move to Gingr is expected. If you're shopping now, you'll most likely be talking to Gingr instead. We cover what Gingr costs separately, and there's a comparison on our PetExec alternative page.

Revelation Pets

Revelation Pets is one of the few kennel systems that publishes prices in pounds, which makes it a common choice for smaller UK kennels and catteries.

Silver is £50 a month ($60) and covers boarding and appointments. Gold is £62 ($77) and adds daycare. Annual plans are £495 and £627. Both include an online booker, integrated payments, reminders and vaccine management, and data upload is free. There's a free trial without a card. Payments run through Rev Pets Payments, which uses Stripe.

It scores 4.8 from 176 reviews on Capterra, the highest of the established systems here. Some reviewers mention limited mobile functionality and customisation, and one reviewer says the product hasn't been updated since it was acquired.

Revelation Pets, Gingr and PetExec are all owned by the same group, so if you're comparing them as three independent options, keep that in mind. Our Revelation Pets alternative page has a direct comparison.

DoggieDashboard

"What are people saying about DoggieDashboard?" is one of the questions Google shows most often next to kennel software searches. DoggieDashboard is a simpler, low-cost system for daycares, kennels, groomers, trainers and walkers.

There's a free plan for up to 10 pet profiles and a Premium plan at $40 a month or $400 a year. It's month to month; if you cancel, you drop back to the free plan and can't add new records. You can export your data to Excel.

It has a 5.0 score from 23 reviews on Capterra. The limitation one reviewer points out is payments: it doesn't process cards, so you need something like Square or Clover alongside it, and bookings and payments live in two places.

KennelSuite

KennelSuite was desktop software used by a lot of UK boarding kennels. The company behind it ceased trading, and the software hasn't had updates or security fixes since. It still runs on many office PCs, holding years of customer, pet and booking history in a password-protected Microsoft Access database.

If you're still on it, the risk isn't that it stops working tomorrow. It's that you're holding personal data in software nobody maintains, on one PC, often without a reliable backup, and sometimes without anyone still knowing the database password. Under UK and EU data protection law, keeping that data secure is still your responsibility.

We move KennelSuite users across regularly, including from databases where the password has been lost, at no charge. The details are on our KennelSuite alternative page.

Reading reviews well

Review scores in this category are all fairly high, so the number alone won't separate them. More useful:

  • Read the one- to three-star reviews from the last 12 months. They tell you what goes wrong now, not in 2019.
  • Look for reviewers whose business looks like yours: same services, similar size, same country.
  • Notice whether complaints are about the product or about support. Support problems are harder to work around.
  • Check whether the vendor replies to reviews, and how.

For the wider market, including Gingr, DaySmart Pet, MoeGo and Goose, see the best kennel management software in 2026. KennelBooker itself scores 4.6 from 77 reviews on Capterra, and you can try it free for 14 days without a card.

Frequently asked questions

What are people saying about DoggieDashboard?

DoggieDashboard has a 5.0 score from 23 reviews on Capterra (October 2026), and its reviews are very positive. The limitation one reviewer points out is that it doesn't process card payments, so you need a separate card system such as Square or Clover.

Is Kennel Connection any good?

Kennel Connection scores 4.4 from 80 reviews on Capterra. The complaints that come up in reviews are bugs, a learning curve for admins and a complicated pricing set-up. KC Cloud costs $149 a month, with 2-way SMS $50 a month extra.

Is PetExec still available?

PetExec was acquired by Togetherwork, Gingr's parent company, in November 2024. Its pricing is no longer published on its own site and new enquiries are routed to Gingr. Existing customers should ask what the plan is for their account.

Is KennelSuite still supported?

No. The company behind KennelSuite ceased trading, so the software no longer receives updates or security fixes, although many copies still run. KennelBooker can move KennelSuite data across free of charge, including from password-protected databases.
